The Story Street Mobile Food Pantry, which stops at St. Paul Lutheran Church on the first Wednesday of each month, will have two alternate dates in the early part of next year, according to Pastor Jean McCartney.
With the first Wednesday of January falling on New Year’s Day, the mobile pantry will instead stop on Tuesday, Jan. 7.
The first Wednesday in March falls on Ash Wednesday, so the mobile pantry will stop on Tuesday, March 4.
The pantry made its first stop in Missouri Valley on Feb. 1, 2023, and has been making monthly stops ever since. At that particular stop, the pantry served 122 people, 40 households and distributed 1,014 food items.
“I'm grateful for this partnership opportunity,” Pastor McCartney said in a Feb. 8, 2023 article in the Times-News. “There's a great need in rural areas.”
The pantry and its stops in Missouri Valley are part of a partnership with St. Paul Lutheran Church and the Western Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.
