Arlon E. Longmeyer, 88

Arlon Edward Longmeyer, age 88 of Missouri Valley, passed away at his home on July 13, 2022.  Born in Beebeetown to Edward H. and Edna Irene (Godden) Longmeyer on June 17, 1934, he lived his entire life in Harrison County and graduated from Missouri Valley High School. He married Donna Louise Johnson on Sept. 10, 1955, in Glenwood.

He served in the Army after World War II.

He held various jobs driving trucks, then owned and operated a Skelly Station at I-29 and Hwy 30 in Missouri Valley, then went into farming.

Arlon and Donna enjoyed square dancing, bowling, playing cards, stock car racing and traveling.

Arlon is survived by his two sons, David (Anita) of Stover, Mo. and Gary (Kathie) of Missouri Valley; grandchildren, Dawn (Russ) Newbury of Castle Rock, Colo., Megan (Joshua Ruiz) Longmeyer of Los Angeles, Calif., Atina (David Kelley) Hammitt of Council Bluffs and Tony (Shanna) Hammitt of Missouri Valley; three great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Arlon was preceded in death by his wife Donna; his parents; sister, Betty Vickers; and brother, Ivan.

Visitation and funeral service were held at Hennessey Funeral Home in Missouri Valley, on Sunday July 17, 2022. Pastor Connie McWilliams officiated. Music Selections were “Go Rest High on that Mountain”, “Don’t Cry For Me” and “I Can Only Imagine”. A private Interment will be held at a later date at the Calhoun Cemetery in Missouri Valley.
