Carol L. Rodewald, 75

Carol Lee Rodewald, age 75, a longtime resident of Missouri Valley, passed away peacefully on Aug. 7, 2022.
She was born in Missouri Valley, on April 5, 1947, and grew up on a farm northeast of Mondamin. While in school, Carol was a beautiful and accomplished singer and also played the piano, clarinet, and alto saxophone. She graduated from West Harrison High School in 1965, and went on to Stewart’s School of Cosmetology, graduating top of her class. Carol was an accomplished cosmetologist, who was honored with many awards in her 30 year career. During beauty school Carol married K. Dean Rodewald and from that marriage two children were born, Elizabeth Renee & Richard Dean. Later, Carol started a successful catering business known as “Carol’s Cakes and Catering”. She made many beautiful and tasty cakes and desserts for all occasions and prepared food for hundreds of people. She was also very involved with volunteering in her community and the Woodmen of the World Fraternal Organization, holding several different offices. After the passing of her husband, Dean, Carol worked as the Head Food Coordinator for the Missouri Valley School District where she served many students and staff. She enjoyed working at the school and had a great team by her side. Carol enjoyed flower gardening, decorating, shopping, painting, many arts and crafts, playing cards, taking family vacations, cooking for 300, hosting many holidays, and being with her family! She touched many hearts along the way and will be greatly missed.
Carol was preceded in death by her husband, K. Dean Rodewald; daughter, Elizabeth Rodewald; parents who raised her, Anthony "Short" and Rhea Cross; brothers-in-law, Ronald Rodewald and Gary Rodewald.
Carol is survived by her son, Richard Rodewald; grandchildren, Kylie Lorenzen (Eric), Paige Rodewald, Carter Rodewald; great-grandchildren, Carter Lorenzen and Mya Lorenzen; sisters-in-law, Cheryle Ross and Virginia Rodewald; extended special family members, Danelle Parks & Family and Amber Christensen & Family; nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of other family and friends.
Visitation with the family, with a rosary service following, will be from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 19, at Saint Patrick’s Church in Missouri Valley. Funeral mass will be Saturday, Aug. 20, at 10:30 a.m., also at Saint Patrick’s Church. Memorials will be directed by the family.
