Charles William “Bill” Erwin, 62, died at his home outside of Woodbine on July 19, 2024. He was born on Dec. 10, 1961, in Omaha, Neb. to Frank and Lillian Jean (Brophy) Erwin. He grew up and attended school in Dunlap. Bill joined the military and proudly served his country. Bill spent time living in Kansas, Texas and Las Vegas, Nev. and in that time welcomed four boys into his life, Roger, Randall, Darrel and Travis. They moved back to Iowa and resided in Missouri Valley until their move to Woodbine in 2006. Bill was an over the road truck driver and worked for FCC for 8 ½ years and then for Oberg for 9 ½ years. On June 13, 2015, Bill was united in marriage to Toni Thompson and added her son Joshua into the family.
Throughout his life, Bill found joy in simple pleasures and cherished moments spent with loved ones. He loved to BBQ which usually led to a day of shooting with his boys. He found solace on fishing trips, where he could spend hours in the outdoors. Bill's love for his dogs and cats was unmatched; they were not just pets but valued members of the family. He found peace in the quiet moments spent with them by his side. He loved to hunt and travel, exploring new places and creating lasting memories along the way. He took pride in his collection of "toys" - from his camper for outdoor adventures to his trusty tractor and mower for maintaining his property. Above all, Bill treasured spending time with his family. Whether gathered around the dinner table sharing stories or embarking on a new adventure together, he always prioritized creating meaningful bonds and lasting connections.
Bill was preceded in death by his father, Frank Erwin; son, Roger Erwin; and sister-in-law, Ruth Erwin. He is survived by his wife, Toni Erwin of Woodbine; mother, Jean Frazier of Denison; sons, Randall Erwin of Pella, Darrel (Kimberly) Erwin of Omaha and Travis (Majesta) Erwin of Woodbine; stepson, Joshua (Stephanie) Thompson of Omaha; grandsons, Roger, Weston, Wilder, Connor and Riley; siblings, Cheryl (Greg) Quaglita of Orlando, Fla., Mike (Mindy) Erwin of Fremont, Neb., Frank “Kelly” (Alicia) Erwin of Kernersville, N.C., Dan (Dawn) Erwin of Kernersville, Terry “Bobby” (Abby) Frazier of Missouri Valley and April (Justin) Lingerfelt of Omaha; and many other relatives and friends.
