CITY OF MONDAMIN SPECIAL CITY COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES Mondamin City Hall Tuesday, July 25, 2023 3:00 P.M. 1. Opening of Meeting a. Roll Call Council members present: Mary Seago, acting mayor pro tem Karen Breyfogle, John Glennie, Terry Coyle, and Jim Rains. Absent: Mayor Jamie Howrey. Staff present: Alyx Hirst. John Hines from Crary Huff Law Firm and local resident Brian Rife were also present. c. Approval of Agenda Motion made to approve agenda by J. Glennie, with a second by T. Coyle. Motion carried 5-0. 2. Public Comments None 3. New Business a. Meeting with new city attorney John Hines to review multiple city projects Attorney Hines discussed several projects that the city would like to resolve. John discussed his checklist regarding city nuisances and abandoned property’s and answered some of council’s immediate questions. Attorney Hines suggested that a closed session at our next council meeting would be appropriate to discuss which homes would take priority as funds are limited for this project. The next item of discussion was Brown’s Second Addition on North Main Street. Attorney Hines stated that he would like the real estate attorney from his firm to look over the title and documents already provided and then proceed with the sale of parcels. The final topic of discussion were letters received by the IRS regarding civil penalties from tax period December 31, 2017. During this time, there were several IRS issues due to the previous clerk not paying taxes on time. Contact has been made by Clerk Hirst, but the issue remains ongoing. Attorney Hines stated he would like to look over all documents. 4. Adjourn Having no further business to conduct, M. Seago made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Seconded by T. Coyle. Motion carried 5-0. The meeting was adjourned at 3:46 p.m. These minutes are as recorded by the Mondamin City Clerk and subject to approval at the next regular city council meeting.
