Clydia Jane McKean, 71, of Woodbine, passed away on July 27, 2024.
Clydia was born on Nov. 27, 1952, in Logan, to Clyde and Vivian (Dean) McKean. She grew up in Modale, and attended grade school and high school at West Harrison Public Schools. She attended Iowa Western Community College and graduated with her licensed practical nursing (LPN) degree in 1977. After obtaining her LPN, she lived in Omaha until 1991, when she moved back to Modale to help care for her father. In 2000, after her father passed away, she moved to the Woodbine area, where she lived for a time with her sister Delilah. Sometime after her sister passed away, she moved into the town of Woodbine. She worked as an LPN at several places, including Quality Living in Omaha, Neb., Crowell Home in Blair, Neb., and the Dunlap Nursing Home in Dunlap, and cared for many people.
Clydia also became secretary of the Calhoun Cemetery after her mother passed away in 1989, and she sang and played piano in a band named Bobby G and the Tennessee'ns for seven years.
Clydia loved animals, but especially her kitties. She and her sister Delilah had five cats, and Clydia faithfully cared for those cats after her sister passed away. Two of the cats, Sam and Cher, were around twenty years old when they died.
Clydia was a member of Landmark Baptist Church in Logan, having accepted Christ as her Savior. Before her health worsened, she played the piano and sang for special occasions at the church.
Later in her life, Clydia had several serious health issues. There were multiple times where it seemed she would not make it through, but she persevered through these times, crying out to God to help her. Now she is no longer in pain, having been kept by the grace of God.
Remaining to honor her memory are her niece Nancy Perry; and daughter Harlee of Newton; cousin Nicole Brickey and husband Waylon of Omaha, Neb.; extended family Sue Wrieth of Omaha; extended family Helen Mauney of Mondamin; her church family at Landmark Baptist Church; and many other relatives and friends.
Preceding her in death were her parents Clyde and Vivian McKean; sister Delilah Renz; and nephew Wes Renz.
Funeral service was held August 2, 2024.
