Colene J. Hoss, age 89, passed away Nov. 16, 2021, at Longview Nursing Home in Missouri Valley, where she has lived since January of 2020. Colene was born Feb. 22, 1932, in Montgomery County, to the late Clyde and Vivian (Scott) Shepherd. She was united in marriage to Ray Chester Hoss on Oct. 28, 1950, and they were blessed with 2 children, Debra and Kenneth. Colene worked for Caterpillar Company as the switchboard operator, and is a member of Community of Christ Church in Missouri Valley and formerly Riverside Congregation in Council Bluffs. Colene enjoyed sewing and her sewing guild and formerly worked at the Needle Woman Store in Council Bluffs. She was active in her church and served as Sunday school teacher and Priesthood teacher. She is preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Vivian; husband, Ray; son, Kenneth; sister, Anneva Hethcote. Colene is survived by daughter, Debra Stephens and husband Carroll of Honey Creek; five grandchildren and spouses, Chris (Christy) Christensen, Jason (Leslie) Christensen, Shane (Jill) Hoss, Rebecca (Riley) Kurth, Andrew (Katie) Stephens; and 14 great-grandchildren. Visitation and funeral service was Friday, Nov. 19, 2021 at Cutler-O’Neill-Meye-Woodring funeral home. Interment is at the Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials to Community of Christ Church preferred.
