Dick McElroy, age 81 of Council Bluffs, passed away on April 23, 2023, at Bethany Care Center of cancer.
Dick was born on March 13, 1942, in Council Bluffs to Glen and Helen McElroy, Missouri Valley.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and wife, Eula McElroy. He is survived by sister, Susan Hagstrom; nephew, Robb Hagstrom; uncle, Rev. George McElroy (Carolyn); son, Kevin Andersen (Tracy); granddaughter, Dayla; step-daughter, Mary Mahoney; and many special friends and family.
Dick worked in the grocery/retail industry starting at Roundy’s, Missouri Valley and 26 years for Hy-Vee, Council Bluffs because of his love of interacting with people. He could not go anywhere without someone recognizing him from Hy-Vee.
Dick loved golf, bowling, watching Iowa Hawkeye and Oklahoma sports, as well as the Minnesota Vikings and Gophers.
