Dorothy “Dolly” John, age 87, of Missouri Valley, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2021, surrounded by family at Longview Nursing Home in Missouri Valley. She was born March 10, 1934, in Magnolia, to Harry and Mabel (Engen) Dague. Dolly and her family moved to Little Sioux at the age of three, where she attended First through 10th grades in Little Sioux before moving to Missouri Valley in 1949, with her mother and graduated from high school in 1951. She had an older brother Dick and a younger brother Bob. While in Missouri Valley she started working at the phone company. She later started working at AT&T and worked there until 1997, when she took an early retirement. She was baptized and confirmed at the age of 21, in Blair, Neb., at Trinity Lutheran Church. She was united in marriage to Bert Trisdale, in October 1952, and moved to Blair. They had four children, Bradley, Vicky, Julie and Kristi. Dorothy “Dolly” always had a smile on her face and was always there for everyone. She loved to travel, work in her yard, loved to go dancing, was very active in church activities when she was able but her greatest joy came from doing things with her family, which included anything to do with her grandkids. She collected bears and had an adorable collection of both stuffed bears and figurines. She also enjoyed watching basketball. Dolly cared very deeply about the people she loved and always showed up with a warm smile and a caring heart.

Dolly is preceded in death by her parents; son, Bradley; grandson, Tyler; and her brothers, Richard and Robert Dague.

She is survived by her daughters, Vicky Crotts of Woodbine, Julie McClannahan and husband Robin of Mondamin, Kristi Fullerton of Missouri Valley, Drema Trisdale (daughter-in-law) of Wisconsin; six grandchildren, Jackie Knobbe of Omaha, Neb., Mindy Taddei of Missouri Valley, Cari Harms and husband Brandon of Omaha, John MClannahan of Missouri Valley, Emily Rokon and husband Kam of Omaha, Bradley Trisdale and wife Kari of Eau Claire, Wis.; great-grandchildren, Lillian Dooley, Malik Knobbe, Blake, Bennett and Eleanor Harms, and Juliet and Henrik Rokon.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Paul Lutheran Church or to the Alzheimer’s Association. The family would like to invite everyone to a time of lunch and fellowship at the church following the service.

The funeral service was Monday, Dec. 20, 2021, at the St. Paul Lutheran Church, in Missouri Valley. Pastor Jean McCartney officiated. Sharon Shelton was the organist with Lary Clark as the vocalist. The vocal selections were “The Old Rugged Cross”, “How Great Thou Art”, and “Amazing Grace”. The casket bearers were Kam Rokon, Brandon Harms, Bradley Trisdale, John McClannahan, Malik Knobbe, and Robin McClannahan. The final resting place is at Spring Valley Cemetery in Moorhead.
