Edwin Lee Myer, 77, died on Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2024, surrounded by his family at his home outside of Logan. He was born on June 22, 1947, in Logan, to Arthur “Jack” and Martha (Foutch) Myer. He attended Reeder’s Mill country school and Logan-Magnolia High School, graduating in the class of 1965. Edwin worked construction, remodeling homes in Omaha for a short time before he joined the United States Army. While on leave, Edwin was united in marriage to Marilyn Dinsmore on July 2, 1966, at the Logan Christian Church. He was stationed at Fort Rucker, Ala., then served in Vietnam in 1968. After his honorable discharge in 1969, Edwin returned to Logan where he spent his life farming. He raised pigs for a short time and then cattle until 2010. Farming was not just a career for Edwin; it was his life’s passion. His dream was to build a foundation that could sustain the farm for his kids, grandkids and future generations.
Edwin enjoyed traveling and loved cars. His love for horses led him to ride and rope; he rode the Pony Express and while on a trip with Danelle he rode a mule to the bottom of the Grand Canyon, memories he cherished deeply. His talents extended beyond the field, as he exhibited skill in carpentry, helping to remodel his children’s homes. He always had an eye for detail and love was infused into every project, along with many cookie and coffee breaks. However, above all else, Edwin's greatest pride came from his family and grandchildren. Together he and Marilyn built a legacy of love, laughter and storytelling.
Edwin was preceded in death by his parents and granddaughter, Jaylee Myer. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Marilyn Myer; daughter, Danelle Myer and her husband Scott Hoffman and children, Andrew Hoffman and Elizabeth Hoffman; son, Scott Myer and his wife Jamie and children, Brayton Myer, Brendyn Myer and Bryce Myer, all of Logan; siblings, Joyce and her husband Jerry Caddell of Newton and Jim Myer and his wife Cindy of Logan; and many other relatives and friends.
