Faith Elizabeth Staska, age 21, of Missouri Valley, passed away at Missouri Valley CHI Hospital on Sunday, July 24, 2022. Faith was born on June 29, 2001, in Omaha, Neb., to Joe Staska and Ammy (Hornbeck) Staska. Faith grew up in Missouri Valley and graduated high school in 2019. Throughout school, Faith participated in swim team, dance, cheer, volleyball, soccer, and basketball. She worked as a preschool teacher at Kindercare in Omaha.

Faith loved her family and friends immensely. She enjoyed being around people and making them laugh. She loved listening to music, particularly Harry Styles. Faith loved her mom’s cooking, especially her banana cream pie and meat loaf. She loved her three cats, Moe, Gravy, and Charlie, and her occasional lunch dates with her high school principal, Mrs. Mason.

Faith was an organizer. She would often get frustrated when cabinets and refrigerators were not organized by type, size and color. She loved to clean and keep things tidy around the house.

Faith was a genuinely, joyful person to be around. She lit up the room when she entered, and the room seemed to dim when she left. Faith was the first person to help others and would always put others before herself. She was selfless, kind, funny, and had a joy for life that was unmatched. She was the biggest advocate for her family and friends, loving them fiercely, without reservations. She will forever be missed and forever be loved.

Faith is preceded in death by her grandmother, Susan Hornbeck; great-grandparents, Kathryn and Calvin Harris and Ed and Marge Trecek; and uncle, James Hornbeck.

Faith is survived by her mother, Ammy Staska; her father, Joe Staska; her sisters, Haley, Charleigh, and Harper; her brother, Cole; her grandfather, Bob Hornbeck; grandparents, James and Pam Staska; her aunts, Kati Hornbeck, Tracy Staska, Billie Voss; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

A Celebration of life service, prayer service and visitation was Friday, July 29, 2022, at the Rand Community Center in Missouri Valley. Pastor Jason Gutzmer officiated. The music selection was “Sissy’s Song”. The honorary bearers were LeeAnn Kirby, Kinsey Crispin, Haley Staska, Cole Staska, Harper Staska, Charleigh Stirtz, Hannah Gochenour and Danielle Gochenour. The final resting place is Calhoun Cemetery in Missouri Valley (at a later date).
