Frank D. Cleaver, 101

Frank David Cleaver born Nov. 10, 1919, to David James Cleaver and Alice Wilson Cleaver. At the age of 101 years, 4 months, 6 days Frank completed his service here on earth and passed away at the CHI Hospital in Missouri Valley, on Feb. 16, 2021.

Frank graduated from Missouri Valley high school in 1937. He worked heavy construction not only in the U.S. but South America. His first job near Sioux City was in 1939 earning $.35 per hour to start. He enjoyed flying his own planes. 

He served in the Navy during World War II. He enlisted in 1942 and served until the end of the war in 1945. He served in the Navy Seabees and reached the rank of Chief Petty Officer serving in Fiji and Bora-Bora. He helped build the airstrips in the South Pacific at Bora-Bora.

He married Della Mae Peters in Elk Point, S.D. and they had two boys, David Daniel and Wilbur Eugene. 

Frank married Cecelia Render Feb. 3, 1952, and were together just shy 50 years.

Frank is survived by a half-sister Alice Chance of Savannah, Ga., two sons David Daniel of Minden, La. and Wilbur Eugene of Missouri, stepson Robert Earnest of Edgewater, Fla. and step-daughter Cheri Singer of Frisco, Texas, six grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, five step-great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his parents, brother Fred, wives Della Mae and Cecilia plus one great-grandchild.
