Jack White, 74

Jack White age 74, of Missouri Valley, passed away on Sunday March 13, 2022, in Omaha, Neb.   Jack was born on Jan. 12, 1948, in Culloden, Ga., to Maxine (Timmons/White) Wirth and William White. When he was a small boy, Jack moved to the Council Bluffs area and later graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School. In 1966, he enlisted in the Army and served four years, receiving multiple metals and awards. After being honorably discharged, Jack worked at Woodman of the World and Haney's Shoe Store before enrolling at UNO in 1973. After four years, he attended law school and graduated in 1980. In addition to practicing law as an attorney for 30 years, Jack became a magistrate in 1996. After 20 years of service, he retired in 2017.

Jack's many hobbies included traveling, reading, studying history, cheering on his favorite sports teams, especially the Yankees, and spending time with Peggy and their grandkids.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Maxine (Timmons/White) Wirth and William White; brother Jeff Wirth; two sons, Eric and Nathan.

Jack is survived by his significant other, Peggy Marasco; children, Lori White, David Marasco (Anna), Trish Thiel (Joseph), Troy Marasco (Tabbitha), and Dakota Costanzo; grandchildren, Hallie, Gracie, Beau, Addison, Ellie, Dawn, Hazel, and Bella; step-father, Ernest Wirth; brothers, Tom Wirth (Carroll) and Robert Wirth; many additional family and friends.

A visitation was held Thursday, March 17, at Hennessey Funeral Home in Missouri Valley. Funeral services were held Friday, March 18, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Missouri Valley. Pastor Jean McCartney officiated. Lyle Waterhouse was the vocalist and Carole Gorham was the orgainst. The music selections were “Amazing Grace”, “On Eagles Wings” and “Hallelujah”. Military Honors were conducted at the church by Julius F. Muller American Legion Post #337 of Missouri Valley and VFW Post 6256 and O’Hara Seeley Post of Logan. The final resting place is at Evergreen Cemetery in Missouri Valley.
