James Charles Stuart, age 80, of Missouri Valley, passed away peacefully on Jan. 10, 2024, surrounded by loved ones.
Jim was born, March 10, 1943, to the late James D. and Lurene M. (Belt) Stuart and raised in Crescent. He attended Missouri Valley High School where he met the love of his life, Eddie.
Jim and Eddie married in 1962, the same year he began his 43-year long career with Cargill. During Jim’s time with Cargill, he and Eddie moved multiple times. In 1983, they were afforded the opportunity to settle in Scott City, Mo., when Jim took the position of superintendent of Buffalo Island. They stayed in Missouri until his retirement in 2005. After retirement, Jim started Stuart Consulting where he managed projects across the mid-west and south. Jim fully retired in 2013. Jim and Eddie divided their time between Missouri Valle and Des Allemands, La.
Jim took great pleasure in the outdoors including hunting, fishing, shrimping and boat rides with his lab Roux.
Jim is survived by his wife of 61 years, Eddie Hendrix of Missouri Valley; his two sons, Jimmy (Michele) of Des Allemands, La. and Mark (Cassie) of Logan. Jim had nine grandchildren who always kept him on his toes, Megan (Erik), Nichole (James), Jenna (Rhett), Mark (Jessica), Taylor, Matthew, Jimmy (Faith), and Marrisa. He also had six great-grandchildren who were his favorites, Ella, Macy, Laila, Jack, Jimmy “Gumbo”, and Dean; siblings, Elizabeth, Robert, and Lu Anne (Randy); followed by a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
He is proceeded in death by his parents, James and Lurene (Belt) of Crescent; brother Earl, and his best friend Roux. His family will find comfort in remembering Jim for his strength, work ethic, and kindness until they can crack a cold one with him again.
Memorial Service was held Monday, Jan. 15, 2024, at the Eagles Club in Missouri Valley.
