James was born Aug 23, 1972, in Blair, Neb. Parents were Robert and Alice (Solomon) Allen. James loved animals rather than consume them. He and his dad and brother would go up to Denali National Park to hunt Ptarmigan. James worked for Bud College near Bemidji, Minn. and also Little Priest Tribal College in Winnebago, Neb. James earned his bachelor degree in Math from Creighton University and two Masters in Education and Math from Purdue. James passed away on June 11.

James is survived by his mother, Alice Allen; brother, Mike Allen; and nephew, Jacob Allen and is survived by many cousins in Alaska and in the lower 48.
