Jeanette Ruth (Jacobsen) Best passed away Feb. 4, 2023. She was born on Sept. 27, 1948, in Missouri Valley to Ellis and Thelma (Wimer) Jacobsen.
She went to Iowa State University for a short time before transferring to Iowa Methodist school of Nursing in Des Moines to become an R.N. She met her husband David Best and was married in 1975.
She loved the Beatles, VW bugs, horses, playing cards, Iowa Hawkeyes, and helping people. She was a member of the Home Builders Auxiliary. She was always cheerful and talkative, family focused, with lots of family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband, David Best; parents, Ellis and Thelma Jacobsen; father and mother-in-law, Emmett and Frances Best; a brother, Rolland Jacobsen; sister and brother-in-law, LaVonne and Francis Hainline; and a brother-in-law, Robert Jordan.
She is survived by three children, Ashley (Todd) Droege, Michael (Karin) Best, Nicholas (Sarah) Best; four grandchildren, William and Magnus Klatt and Jack and Kate Best; brother, Truman (Charlene) Jacobsen; two sisters, Maryln Jordan and Shirley (Keith) Cunard; sister-in-law, Barbra (Todd) Burley and Karen Jacobsen; and brother in-law, Jim (Kathy) Best. She had many nieces and nephews who she loved dearly.
The funeral service was held Friday, Feb. 10, 2023, at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home and Crematory. Pastor Tim Phillips officiated. The music selections were “Amazing Grace”, “What a Friend We Have in Jesus” and “How Great Thou Art”. The pallbearers were William Klatt, Todd Droege, Magnus Klatt, Joe Davidson, Tony Nguyen, Joe Flanders, Andrew Slagle and Jack Best. Interment is at Glendale Cemetery.
