Joan Marie Bonham, 78, of Hornick, passed away Tuesday, June 28, 2022, at MercyOne Siouxland Medical Center, Sioux City.

A visitation will be 4–7 P.M., Wednesday, July 6, 2022, at the Goslar Funeral Home Chapel, Onawa. A Celebration of Life Service will be 6 P.M. Wednesday, July 6, 2022, at the chapel. A live stream will be posted on the Goslar Funeral Home website with Joan’s obituary. Arrangements are under the direction of Goslar Funeral Home and Monuments, Onawa.

Joan Marie was born May 12, 1944, to the late Howard and Genevieve “Vivian” (Walters) Kelly of Missouri Valley.

Joan attended country school near Missouri Valley and graduated from Missouri Valley High School in 1962. Joan was active in rodeo as a child. She ran barrels and was Harrison County Rodeo Queen. After high school, she met Wayne Allen Bonham. The two would marry on Oct. 19, 1963, in Missouri Valley. To this union two sons were born, Curtis Wayne and Chris Allen Bonham.

Joan and Wayne lived near Missouri Valley for several years, then moved to Woodbine to raise hogs. From there they moved to Turin and Wayne sold feed for Moormans Feed and Joan worked for MCI.

Survivors include Chris and Tammy Bonham of Hornick; grandchildren, Wesley Bonham, Ryan Bonham, Adam and Lexy Brown, Nathan Bonham and Megan Bonham; two great-grandchildren, Ellie and Payton; brother, Richard (Anne) Kelly of Missouri Valley; two brothers-in-law, Mark (Mary) Bonham of Kansas City, Kan., and Mike (Kathy) Bonham of Nevada, Mo.; two sisters-in-law, Karen (Dan) Anderson of Virginia, and Trisha Jones of Missouri Valley; several nieces and nephews; cousins, many other relatives, and friends.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Vivian (Walters) Kelly; husband, Wayne Bonham; son, Curtis Bonham; parents-in-law, Lloyd and Irene (Huff) Bonham; and brother-in-law, Larry Jones.
