It is with profound sadness that I share Larry Carl Meyer, age 76 of Missouri Valley, passed away on Sept. 6, 2024.
Larry Carl Meyer was born March 19, 1948, in Council Bluffs. The son of Carl and Ardyce (Coyle) Meyer.
Larry attended grade school in California Junction, until the 8th grade, he then went on to Missouri Valley High School where he graduated President of his class. He then went on to Iowa State University for Agronomy. He attended 3.5 years at Iowa State but had the opportunity to come back home to farm, so that’s what he did.
In 1972, Larry met the love of his life Nancy Newcomb, later to become Mrs. Nancy Meyer on Dec. 1, 1979. They enjoyed each other enormously. They were a part of a few car clubs with their corvette. They traveled to Spearfish, SD many times for the corvette rally. Their love, to spend time with each other was endless, until the end. They had their first-born son in February of 1988, Blake Meyer, and the second son in June of 1991, Alex Meyer. Larry was able to farm for 55 years of his life, within the last 15 years, he was able to farm with his two sons, Alex and Blake, which he enjoyed immensely.
Larry especially loved working on his old tractors, cars, and farm machinery. His most favorite thing he enjoyed was his two granddaughters. He would do anything for the ones he cared for. Most people knew him for his gentle kindness, but we knew him as PaPa! His passion for farming and his unwavering spirit will forever be remembered.
WE LOVE YOU PAPA!
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Ardyce Meyer.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Nancy Meyer; children, Blake Meyer of Missouri Valley, Alex (Kaitlyn) Meyer; granddaughters Rylynn and Blakelee Meyer of Modale; brother Randy Meyer of Woodbine.
Services were conducted Sept. 11, 2024.
