Leo Robert Stevens age 91 of Mondamin, died Tuesday, April 26th 2022, at the Community Memorial Hospital in Missouri Valley.

Leo was born Feb. 24, 1931, in River Sioux, to William & Sarah Jane (Parker) Stevens. Leo was raised and went to school in Mondamin

He joined the Army and fought in the Korean War. He was married to Phyllis Kron on June 9th 1956, and had six children.

Leo was a hard worker and after he retired, he enjoyed working around his yard, planting flower and vegetable gardens, feeding the birds and squirrels, and riding his bike all over town.

Survivors include daughters, Debra Kephart and husband Jim of Mondamin, Deanna Denton and husband Rodney of Tacoma, Wash.,  Shelli Stevens and boyfriend Mark of Omaha, Neb.; Son, Leo Robert Stevens Jr. (Robbie) of Mondamin; brother, Lloyd Stevens of Woodbine; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, with one on the way; and several other friends and family

Leo is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Phyllis, two sons at birth Ricky and Randy, four brothers and one sister.

Visitation was Friday, April 29, 2022, at Hennessey Funeral Home in Missouri Valley. The funeral service was Saturday, April 30, 2022, at Hennessey Funeral Home in Missouri Valley. Pastor Connie McWilliams officiated. The music selections were “That’s My Job”, “Old Rugged Cross” and “Go Rest High on that Mountain”. The casket bearers were Matt Kephart, John Kephart, Zachary Denton, Mark Bradshaw, Joe Brunow and Levi Flint. Military Honors were conducted by the Mondamin American Legion Post #378 and United States Army. The final resting place is Noyes Cemetery in Mondamin.
