Lyle Edward Sherer, 76, died on Sunday, April 21, 2024, with his family by his side, at his home in Pisgah. He was born on June 10, 1947, in Pisgah, to Ward and Esther (Behrends) Sherer. He was raised on a farm near Pisgah and graduated from Logan Magnolia High School in 1965. Lyle went on to Graceland College and the University of Kansas. Lyle taught music in Missouri Valley, and took his music choir to state. Lyle was married to Jennie Pruitt Wensel on July 6, 1986, at the Woodbine RLDS Church.
Lyle was a member of the Pisgah Community of Christ. He loved music, reading, watching westerns, playing cards and long drives. The couple wintered in Texas for several years. Lyle also loved spending time with his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and his dog, Abby. Lyle and Jennie enjoyed many adventures with Mike and Sherry Sherer. Lyle enjoyed his visits with his classmate Pastor Connie McWilliams.
Lyle was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Eugene Sherer. He is survived by his wife, Jennie of Pisgah; five step-children, Sarah and her husband Tony LeClaire of Pisgah, Danny Wensel of Soldier, Mary Frisk and Gale of Little Sioux, Amy and her husband Doug Trucke of Danbury and Jill Wensel of Little Sioux; 15 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; brothers, Jerry Sherer and his wife Barb of Logan, John Sherer and his wife Evonne of Chillicothe, Mo. and Bill Sherer and his wife Melodie of Salem, Ore.; cousin, Mike Sherer and his wife Sherry of Pisgah; and many other relatives and friends.
