Lyle LeeVern Oloff Sr., 94, died Nov. 16, 2020, at his son’s home in Idaho Falls, Idaho, from complications due to leukemia.

Lyle L. Oloff Sr. was born on the family farm, Harrison County, Cass Township, west of Portsmouth on July 5, 1926, to William and Elsie McKeigan Oloff. Lyle was baptized on Oct. 16, 1927, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Persia. He grew up on the farm attending Cass Center Country School. Lyle married Betty Meier on Mar. 27, 1949, at First Lutheran Church, Missouri Valley. Lyle and Betty were confirmed into the Lutheran faith on Oct. 18, 1953, at Immanuel Lutheran, Logan. They farmed in the Logan, Portsmouth area raising five boys. Over the years, Lyle also worked for Schemmer Rock Quarry drilling dynamite holes with a wagon drill, and Harrison County road department operating a road grader maintaining the roads of Cass Township. Lyle and Betty retired from farming in 1977, moving to Logan, and opening and operating the Oloff Machine Shop until their full retirement in 1997. Lyle and Betty enjoyed traveling, winters in Arizona, and fishing at their lake home in Minnesota. Lyle also enjoyed woodworking and reading westerns.

Lyle is preceded in death by his wife Betty of 62 years, his parents, brothers and sisters; grandson, Joshua, and daughter-in-law, Cheryl.

He is survived by his five sons: Wayne (Beth) Blair, Neb., James (Betty), Idaho Falls, Keith (Bonnie), Logan, Lyle Jr., Portsmouth, Terry (Ronda), Logan. Grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Visitation was Sunday, Nov. 22, 2020, at the Logan Memorial Chapel in Logan.

Graveside service was Monday, Nov. 23, 2020, at Valley View Cemetery in Persia. Pastor Joseph Hanson, First Lutheran Church of Missouri Valley officiated.
