Margaret Ann (Hoss) Ruffcorn of Modale, passed away on Sunday, March. 14, 2021, at the Longview Care Center in Missouri Valley, in the presence of her loving family. Margaret was 88 years of age. Margaret was born on March. 12, 1933, in Modale, to George W. and Hazel E. (Lintz) Hoss. She was the sixth of ten children and the last survivor of the George and Hazel Hoss family. Margaret graduated from Missouri Valley High School in 1951. After graduation she went to work as a typist clerk at Service Life Insurance Company. She then worked as a secretary at Missouri Valley High School and retired after working for several years at Mondamin Savings Bank. Wallace LeRoy Ruffcorn and Margaret Ann Hoss were married on Nov. 21, 1954, at Missouri Valley Christian Church. To this union two children were born, Milo and Laurie.  Margaret was the best of the best and was always willing to help anyone at the drop of a hat! She could strike up a conversation with anyone that was willing to visit and could keep the conversation going for hours. She enjoyed listening to live music, cooking meals for the guys in the field, shopping for clothes, and hosting “Card Club” with several other ladies. Margaret was a candy connoisseur and was known for her English toffee, cherry mash, and custard. Margaret and Wally enjoyed fish dinners with friends at Kelley’s on Thursday nights, dancing the night away at the Blair Marina, and spending winters with friends in Arizona. In their earlier years they could be spotted riding a motorcycle or flying their plane around the area; however, Margaret wasn’t overly fond of participating in these two activities. She enjoyed attending any event where music was performed. She would attend the school concerts throughout the year and always looked forward to the Harrison County Fair to listen to the artists perform in the entertainment tent. Margaret’s biggest joy was attending her children’s, grandchildren’s and great-grandchildren’s sporting activities and wearing the “sports pins” of each activity.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents and husband Wally; sisters Dolores Grossell, Herythel Faylor and Shirley Swanger; brothers Dorance, Loren, Duane, Bill, Larry, and Dale Hoss; sisters-in-law and their spouses: Fama (Q.S.) McClannahan and Shurrelene (Robert) Hoff.

Survivors include her children: Milo and his wife Lynne Ruffcorn of Modale and Laurie and her husband Mike Hinkel of Omaha, Neb. Margaret’s grandchildren include Amie Ruffcorn of Gretna, Neb.; Kari (Cameron) Godsey of Council Bluffs; Sarah (Matt) Hahn of Elkhorn, Neb.; Zane Hinkel of Omaha; Michael Ruffcorn of Mondamin; Tanner Hinkel of Kansas City, Kan. The great-grandchildren include Zaden Ruffcorn, Brecken Hahn and Macklin Hahn as well as many nieces and nephews.

Visitation and funeral service was Friday, March 19, 2021, at Hennessey Funeral Home in Missouri Valley.

The family would like to invite everyone to a time of lunch and fellowship at the Christian Church Fellowship Center following the service at the funeral home.
