Michael E. Carritt, 71

Michael Earl Carritt, 71, of Little Sioux, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2021, at Bryan Medical Center in Lincoln, Neb., due to complications of Covid-19.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 6, 2022, at the Rush Family Chapel in Onawa, with John Carritt and Mary Hamer officiating (Please bring and wear masks). The memorial service will be live streamed on Michaela Carritt’s Facebook page. A private family burial will be held at a later date in the Little Sioux Cemetery in Little Sioux. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service in Onawa.

Michael Earl was born Dec. 25, 1950, in Onawa, the son of Kenneth and Margaret (Adams) Carritt. He grew up in Little Sioux and graduated from West Harrison in 1971.

Michael and Helen Faye Morlan were united into marriage July 12, 1975, in Mondamin. To this union four children were born, Michaela, Kenny, Danny, and Abby.

Over the years Michael was a truck driver, welder, farmer, and helped in construction. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and was an avid outdoorsman. Michael loved to go on duck and goose hunts. He enjoyed listening to audio books including Harry Potter, Percy Jackson, and Western “Preacher”.

Survivors include his wife, Helen Carritt of Little Sioux; children, Michaela (Demetrius) Carritt, Kenny (Brandi) Carritt, Danny (Jeannie) Carritt, and Abby (Jeremy) Carritt; seven grandchildren, Essie, Lillie, Jonathan, Emma, Landon, Grayson, and Shylyn; two great-grandchildren, Amarion, and Braylin; brothers and sisters, John (Sandy) Carritt, Danny Carritt, Mary (Tim) Hamer, Janene (Tim) Steckelberg, and Marty (Carla) Carritt; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Margaret Carritt; brother, Terry Carritt; and granddaughter, Alyssa Jennings.
