Patrick R. Rau, age 68, of Council Bluffs, passed away on Wednesday, March 22, 2023, at his home.
Patrick was born in Portsmouth on Feb. 4, 1955, to Mike and Dorothy (Peterson) Rau. Patrick went to Missouri Valley High School and then went on to join the United States Marine Corps. Patrick moved to San Diego, Calif. and lived there for 30 years before moving back to Council Bluffs. Patrick became a contractor and floor installer while in San Diego.
Patrick enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He loved fixing and riding Harley Davidson motorcycles, fishing and loved classic cars, which he was a member of the Midwest Street Rod Association.
He is preceded in death by his father, Mike Rau; wife, Victoria Rau-Ballardo; sister, Lois Thomas; and sister, Cindy Wright.
Survivors include his mother, Dorothy and Carl Michael of Missouri Valley; son, Gilbert Rau-Ballardo of San Diego, Calif.; brothers, Mick Rau and wife Joan of Council Bluffs, Ed Rau and wife Karen of Gilbert, Ariz., Matt Rau and wife Mona of Sahuarita, Ariz., Tim Rau and wife Tammy of Council Bluffs; sisters, Audrey Evans and husband Terry of Branson, Mo., Rebecca Vega and husband Robert of Columbia, Tenn., Lori McWilliams and husband Danny of Pisgah; girlfriend, Julie Blocki of Council Bluffs and many nieces and nephews.
Celebration of life was held Saturday, April 22, 2023, at the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Council Bluffs.
