“They work hard,” Mom said. “They need a good meal to keep them going.” It was called dinner then and was the biggest meal of the day on our farm. Mom and her daughters prepared a “meat and potatoes” spread every day. She was adamant that the men be washed up and at the table at noon. After all, it would not do to serve watery potatoes or dry roast beef.
