Ralph B. Smith, 92

Ralph B. Smith, age 92, of Mondamin, passed on Monday, Jan. 24, 2022, at his home with his wife and daughter by his side. Ralph was born on Jan. 2, 1930, in Marked Tree, Ark., to the late Leslie and Jewel (Rash) Smith.  Ralph spent 20 years in the U.S. Navy and served during the Korean Conflict.  When Ralph left the Navy, he bought a farm in Woodbine, while he attended college in Bellevue, Neb.  Soon after, Ralph went to work for the United States Postal Service where he spent the next 17 years as a Mail Distribution Supervisor.  After retiring, Ralph enjoyed his woodworking shop outside of Logan, fishing, hunting, and spending time with friends and family.

Ralph was preceded in death by his son, Daniel Smith; sister, Edith Cruse; two brothers, Norman and Edward Smith.  He is survived by his wife, Frances (Mass) Smith of 71 years; daughter, Kathy and Ray Thompson, all of Mondamin; son, Joe Smith of Red Oak; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. The family would also like to thank all the family members and friends who have sent their condolences and hope that all understand their decision to have private graveside services for the immediate family only, due to COVID.  Family will direct memorials.
