Ronald “Ron” William Heilig, 52, of Little Sioux, passed away unexpectedly Monday, June 27, 2022, in Atlantic.

Ronald William was born March 24, 1970, in Sunnyvale, Calif., the son of Michael and Norma (Moore) Heilig. Ron graduated from Mondamin High School in 1989.

Ron and Katie Johnson were united into marriage Aug. 30, 2008, in Little Sioux.

Ron worked for the local union #15 and traveled as a supervisor for refractory brick laying. He was currently working for Carry-On Trailer as a Forklift driver in Missouri Valley, and Fusion Boiler Works out of Omaha, Neb.

He enjoyed watching football and was an avid fan of the Kansas City Chiefs. Ron enjoyed having bonfires and lighting fireworks. He was known for his “Epic” 4th of July parties.

Ron was a member of the Little Sioux Church of Christ, Little Sioux.

Survivors include his wife, Katie Heilig of Little Sioux; father, Michael Heilig; six children, Ashley (Eddie) Gray of Onawa, Tyler Heilig of Onawa, Dalton (Hannah Mace) Heilig of Onawa, Brandon (Morgan Fairchild) Jacobsen of Little Sioux, Gavin Jacobsen of Little Sioux, and Tia Heilig of Little Sioux; three grandchildren, Xavier Heilig, Bentley Heilig, and Remi Jacobsen; brother, Enoch (Tonya) Heilig of Little Sioux; sister, Rachel Heilig of Logan; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leon and Norma (Moore) Heilig.

A funeral service was held Saturday, July 2, 2022, at the Little Sioux Church of Christ, Little Sioux, with Pastor Wayne Bahr officiating. A recording of the service is available on the Goslar Funeral Home website with Ron’s obituary. Burial followed in the Little Sioux Cemetery, Little Sioux. A visitation was held Friday, July 1, 2022, at the Goslar Funeral Home Chapel, Onawa. Arrangements were under the direction of Goslar Funeral Home and Monuments, Onawa, Iowa.
