Sara Sue Atwell, age 65, of Little Sioux, passed away on Friday, Dec. 11, 2020, at Rose Vista Nursing Home in Woodbine. Sara was born on Dec. 6, 1955, in Moorhead, to Walter and Julia (Rasmussen) Wakehouse. She went to school at West Harrison until 1969, then attended school at West Monona Jr. and Sr. High Class of 75. Sara married Brian Atwell and lived in Little Sioux. They had two daughters, Jessica and Aimee. Sara was a stay at home Mom, she enjoyed her daughters, her grandkids and having brunch with family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband Brian Atwell, daughter Aimee Atwell, brother Gary Wakehouse, parents Walter and Julia Wakehouse, her in-laws Jesse and Doris Atwell, brother-in-laws Dwayne Atwell and Jay Atwell, son-in-law Chuck Armstrong.
Sara is survived by her daughter Jessica Atwell Armstrong of Moorhead, four grandkids, Logan Armstrong, Skyler Armstrong, Trinity Armstrong and Adalyn Armstrong all of Moorhead, brother Roy (Janet) Wakehouse of Turin, Becky (David) Vaughn of Castana, sister-in-law Becky (Phipps) Wakehouse and Bob Walker of Castana and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was Friday, Dec. 18, 2020, at Hennessey Funeral Home in Missouri Valley. Celebration of Life Service followed at Hennessey Funeral Home in Missouri Valley. Pastor Connie McWilliams officiated. The Music Selections were “Wind Beneath My Wings” and “When I Get to Where I’m Going”. The Honorary Bearers were Logan Armstrong, Skyler Armstrong, Trinity Armstrong and Adalyn Armstrong. The Final Resting Place is the Magnolia Cemetery in Magnolia.
