Timothy Alan Cox, 56, died on May 22, 2023, at Azria Health Rose Vista in Woodbine. He was born July 21, 1966, to Tom and Ardith (Benson) Cox in Onawa and was raised near Pisgah. He attended the West Harrison School District and graduated in 1984. Tim then attended Western Iowa Tech for two years studying diesel mechanics before attending Iowa Western Community College studying to be a parts store manager. Tim started driving a truck for Wheelers Transportation and worked there for five years. He purchased his own truck and leased it to Dave Pickle for a while before starting Tim Cox Trucking in 2001. Tim married Nancy Gallentine on July 20, 1999, in Las Vegas, Nev.
Growing up in rural Iowa provided Tim with many opportunities to hone his outdoor skills. From camping trips to gardening and deer hunting, he developed a deep appreciation for nature that would stay with him throughout his life. Tim's selflessness led him to serve as a member of the Modale Fire and Rescue Department for 17 years. He was also an active member of the Masonic Lodge since 2019.
Tim was preceded in death by his mother, Ardith Cox; grandparents, Versal and Ida (Wimer) Cox and Lloyd and Edna (Gray) Benson; grandson, Oliver Neary; and niece, Kelsie Flint. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Cox of Logan; stepsons, Shannon Neary and his wife Eliza and their children Patrick, Liam and Theodore of Troy, Ohio, Adam Bellis and Bryce Moore both of Missouri Valley; father, Tom Cox of Woodbine; sister, Tammy and her husband Mark Flint of Missouri Valley; and many other relatives and friends.
A funeral service was held on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at Fouts Funeral Home in Woodbine. Pastor David Seratt presided over the service. The recorded musical selections were “Live Like You Were Dying” by Tim McGraw, “If You’re Going Through Hell” by Rodney Atkins and “One More Day” by Diamond Rio. The pallbearers were Kendra Flint, Kirsten Madler, Bryce Flint, Aaron Madler, Kyle Beebe, Kody Beebe, Tanner Baker and Austin Baker. Tim’s final resting place is at the Soldier Valley Cemetery.
