MVAOCOU 41 Missouri Valley 6
MVAOCOU scored on all five first half possessions to post a 41-6 win over Missouri Valley in the 2025 season opener at the Big Reds Stadium in Missouri Valley.
“We knew they (MVAOCOU) were tough going in and we had to limit our mistakes,” stated Head Coach Dontae Allen. “I did like the way our kids responded in the second half, as we started to move the ball a little more efficiently. But we has way too many 1st half mistakes.”
MV’s Dylan Davis (47-yds) and Julyan Tyson (21-yds) combined for 67 yards to lead the rushing attack. Davis threw for 123 yards, including a 25-yard scoring strike to Owen Becerra.
Defensively, the Big Reds were paced by Jack Handlos (10.5 tackles), James Wendt (7.5 tackles) and Lucas Cleaver (3.5 tackles).
“We have to find a way to give our backfield room/space to operate,” stated Allen. “If our quarterback gets time, he can do some damage. We were way too one dimensional in the first game, and we have to find a way to become mentally stronger.”

Logan-Magnolia 12 AHSTW 6
Lo-Ma’s Ashton Peszulik scored two fourth quarter touchdowns, as the Panthers escaped with a 12-6 win over ASHTW in the season opener on Aug. 29 at Avoca.
“We knew going in it would be tough,” stated Head Coach Matt Straight. “Defensively, we had times we could have let up, but we forced some turnovers and got some huge fourth down stops to get off the field.”
Peszulik (76 yds, 2 TDs) and Max Wingert (24 yds) led the ground attack, with Carson Edney (2-27), Jason Kastner (2-15), Crosby Yoder (3-23) and Brodie Davis (3-14) hauling in 10 passes for the Panthers.
Defensively, Peszulik (7.5 tackles), Edney (6.0 tackles), Yoder (4.0 tackles), Wingert (3.5 tackles), Wade Hawkins (3.5 tackles) led the defensive attack. Brodie Davis and Wade Perkins each had one interception.
“We didn’t flich when things weren’t going out way,” Straight concluded. “We have to eliminate the negative yardage plays, penalties and turnovers, and we have to tackle better on defense. But we’ll take what we saw and get ready for this week’s opponent.”

Woodbine 52 Lenox 8
Woodbine picked up a statement victory, as the #6 Woodbine secured a huge 52-8 win at #8 Lenox on Aug. 29.
“Our guys were ready to play from the start,” stated Head Coach Dustin Crook. “The defense was in control early, as they set the tempo from the start.”
Brody Pryor finished 6-12 for 107 yards, including two touchdowns passes. Landon Blum (4 receptions, 54 yds, 1 TD), Blaine Leaders (2 receptions, 19 yds, 1 TD), Micah Moores (1 reception, 36 yds, 1 TD), and Brenner Sullivan (1 reception, 44 yds, 1 TD) were the top targets.
Defensively, Brenner Sullivan (5.0 tackles), Cal Pryor (4.5 tackles), Blaine Leaders (4.0 tackles), Joe Freund (2.5 tackles) and Lucas Olson (2.5 tackles, 1 fumble recovery) led a solid defensive effort.
“We had a lot of kids get some quality snaps, and we’re looking forward to see what we can do the rest of the season,” Crook concluded. “We were efficient and effective in most parts of the opening game of the season, but there is still a lot improvements we need to make.”

Boyer Valley 44 Ar-We-Va 21
Boyer Valley took a commanding early lead and never looked back in a dominant 44-21 win over Ar-We-Va in non-district play on Aug. 29 at Westside.
“Our defense set the tone early, and we just followed their lead,” stated Head Coach Jeremy Christansen. “Levi (Reineke) had an outstanding game on both sides of the ball, but the guys up front game him room to operate.”
Levi Reineke (172 yds rushing, 4 TDs), Brody Koski (121 yds, 1 TD), and Jericho Ingram (87 yds, 1 TD) combined for six rushing touchdowns.
Defensively, Reineke (13.5 tackles), Jericho Ingram (11 tackles), Tristen Burkhart (9 tackles) and Lucas Lantz (6.5 tackles) led a strong defensive effort. Koski and Ingram both had interceptions.
“The O-Line and D-Lines get the game ball for this one, as they took control and never let up,” stated Christiansen. “Our defense gave our offense a chance to succeed.”
