A Day to Remember: Some Gave All -- All Gave Some

West Harrison drops girls basketball for 2024-25 In a statement released by the West Harrison school late last Friday afternoon, the West Harrison girls will not be fielding a girls basketball team this winter sports season. West Harrison Superintendent Martin Fonley stated, “Due to low participating numbers at the high school level, West Harrison will not be participating in varsity girls basketball this upcoming season.” High school girls basketball practices began on Nov. 11, and West Harrison began with just seven players signing up, and were down to six by Wednesday. The low numbers were a huge concern, considering the 18-game Rolling Valley Conference schedule. It was discussed at the Nov. 13 school board meeting, and they looked to explore sharing opportunities with neighboring school, Missouri Valley. Missouri Valley shared the high school baseball program this past summer. Both the Missouri Valley and West Harrison school boards met on Monday afternoon to discuss the finalization for the upcoming season.
