Adam John Gdowski Sr. son of Matthew and Anna (Kula) Gdowski was born on Dec. 6, 1929, in St. Edwards, Neb. He was baptized at the St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Fullerton, Neb. Adam graduated from Belgrade High School in 1947. Adam enlisted in the United States Navy in 1950, he was honorably discharged in 1954. On Nov. 20, 1955, Adam was united in marriage to Jacqueline Ann Bailey. He worked for Griffin Pipe in Council Bluffs for over thirty-five years. He retired in June of 1995. Adam enjoyed farming and working on vehicles and collecting junk. But all that junk always had a price on it. He knew how to wheel and deal. He was proud of his junk. He enjoyed getting outside and sitting in the sun. He always put a very big garden in every year.

On Nov. 8, 2022, Adam passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family, having attained the age of 92 years old.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Jacqueline Bailey; daughter, Leta Indermuhle; sons, Adam Gdowski Jr. and Charles Gdowski.

Left to cherish his memory his daughters, Anna Ahart of Butte, Neb. and Jacqueline Smith and Dave Gittins of Missouri Valley; son, Edward Gdowski of Missouri Valley; son-in-law, Jerry Indermuhle of Shelby; nine grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; nieces and nephews; and other family and many friends.

Visitation was Friday, November 11, 2022, followed by a Wake Service at Hennessey Funeral Home in Missouri Valley, with Father Joel McNeil officiating. The music selections were “Go Rest High on That Mountain” and “How Great Thou Art”. The honorary casket bearers were Tyler Smith, Wyatt Smith, Tonya Cruz, Anna Wade, Donnie Ahart, and Skylar Frazier. The final resting place is Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Missouri Valley.
