WOODBINE
The Woodbine Community School Speech Team had a successful day at the State Speech contest held in Waukee on February 8.
Both short film entries received straight ones from the judges with encouraging feedback for outstanding films. Leah Claar has the potential for a threepeat at All-State bringing voices of Owen Fitchhorn and Quinn Sherer along with her. This was Sarah Andregg’s first attempt at short film. She was one of the voices in Leah’s All-State film entry last year. The readers theater had a setback with one of the participants suffering from Influenza A.
Leah Claar demonstrated the show must go on mentality with stepping up and performing as a substitute. This group, Marcus Hesman, Aaron Colwell, Eva Davis, Reagan Cogdill, Addy Harris, Peyton Fitchhorn, and substitute Leah Claar received two ones and a two for their performance of Emotional Baggage.
