High Winds blow through Harrison County on Aug. 9
High wind swept through Missouri Valley and Harrison County the morning of Aug. 9, as wind gusts measuring between 80-90 mph.
Damages around the area included uprooted trees, down power lines, and a few vehicles were knocked around.
“The worst damage appears to be on North 4th Street,” stated Rich Gochenour, public works director for the city of Missouri Valley. “There was a lot of older trees that were taken right out of the ground.”
Significant winds also swept through the Mondamin, Little Sioux and Pisgah area, with a lot of structure damages.
In the past 72 hours, Harrison County, Iowa had a peak outage count of 2,071 and a peak percentage (27.86 pct.) of customers without power. The average number of customers out in the state over the last 72 hours is 117.
