'Blind Date with a Book' at the Missouri Valley Public Library

Posted

During the month of February, the Missouri Valley Public Library will host its annual “Blind Date with a Book” event.

The library staff put together a collection of books for checkout which are wrapped to keep patrons from “judging books by their covers.” We want to encourage readers to step out of their reading “comfort zone” and try new kinds of books. The books have a tag with clues as to the book’s plot, just enough to make the patron curious about what’s underneath!

Once you select your books, take them home. We want you to have fun, so find a comfortable chair, unwrap them, pour a cup of hot cocoa and enjoy your “date.” Then, rate the book using the entry form attached and drop it in the entry box when you return the book.

We will draw for prizes each Monday beginning Feb. 12. The grand prize drawing of “Dinner and a Movie For Two” will be held Monday, March 4.

Popular entries will join the display of Staff Picks by the front checkout counter.

Come to the library and join in the fun! The last date to enter a rating in the entry box is Friday, March 1.
