Gridiron teams get early start
The 2025 high school football season will get an early start this week, Aug. 22, as a few teams will get a head start on the season with a Week 0 contest.
The shortage of eight-man teams in the area sent several teams looking to fill the seventh and eighth game on the regular season schedule. Both Woodbine and Dunlap have been placed in 8-Man, District 10 for the next two years, and only have seven teams on the 2025 slate. Boyer Valley will get started this week (Aug. 22) at McAllister Field in Dunlap, with a 7 p.m. kickoff.
The 2025 Iowa High School football season starts on Friday, Aug. 29 across the state.
