CHI Health Missouri Valley appoints Alex Burhop
CHI Health Missouri Valley is pleased to announce the appointment of Alex Burhop as its new president.
Burhop, a proven leader with a deep commitment to critical access hospitals (CAHs), will lead CHI Health Missouri Valley in its mission to enhance and grow valuable healthcare services for the community.
“Alex Burhop is a dedicated member of our team, and his leadership skills and passion for critical access hospitals will be instrumental in guiding CHI Health Missouri Valley forward,” CHI Health Market President David Jones said. “We are confident that his expertise and dedication to our mission and values will be a great benefit to our community.”
Burhop joined the Common Spirit Health Critical Access Hospital Market in October 2022 as Director of Operations, following a successful administrative fellowship with Common Spirit Health. In this role, he has been a driving force in uniting entities within the CAH market, fostering collaboration, sharing best practices, and improving operational efficiency and effectiveness.
His contributions include providing essential support to hospital presidents, leading the Critical Access Collaborative, developing and implementing market work plans and strategic workouts, and revitalizing the external peer review service. He also served as interim president for CHI Health Devils Lake for four months in 2025.
“I have had the pleasure of working with Alex for the past several years and have witnessed firsthand his expertise, talent, and enthusiasm," Jones added. "I ask everyone to join me in thanking Alex for his significant contributions to the organization thus far and to extend their full support as he transitions into this new role.”
Burhop holds a Master of Health Administration and a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology with a minor in Informatics from the University of Iowa. He is an active member of the healthcare community, serving on the board of the Nebraska Rural Health Association and as a member of the Nebraska and Western Iowa Chapter of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
