McIntosh Takes Honor Flight - It Was Her Honor

A recent trip to Washington D.C. on the Midwest Honor Flight proved to be a deeply moving and unforgettable experience for CHI Health Missouri Valley Nurse Trisha McIntosh. McIntosh had the privilege of accompanying Vietnam Air Force veteran Jim Enderle, highlighting the profound impact of connecting with those who have served our nation.

On May 5, 2026, in a one-day, whirlwind trip, McIntosh joined Enderle and other veterans on a poignant journey to the nation’s capital, visiting war memorials and monuments dedicated to the brave men and women who have defended American freedoms. The trip offered a unique opportunity for reflection, gratitude, and fostering meaningful connections.

“Walking alongside Jim and the other veterans through all of the historical sites in D.C. allowed me to connect with him on a personal level,” shared McIntosh. “Hearing their stories, witnessing (and sharing) their emotions, and seeing all of the respect shown to these heroes was incredibly moving.”

The Honor Flight provided a platform for veterans to reflect on their service, while simultaneously allowing companions, called “guardians” through the Midwest Honor Flight, like McIntosh to express profound gratitude for their sacrifices.

“The day allowed Veterans to reflect on their time in the service, and the rest of us to show them our gratitude and the great pride we have to give them for our freedom,” McIntosh stated. “It was an absolute privilege to help honor the sacrifices made by our veterans and to spend time with Jim, whose service was remembered and celebrated that day.”

Beyond the historical significance of the trip, a strong bond was formed between McIntosh and Enderle.

“I am so grateful for the time I spent getting to know Jim,” McIntosh expressed. “We connected so well and became fast friends, both stating that we couldn’t believe we only met each other the night before the flight.”

Despite the distance separating them, with Enderle residing eight hours away in the Black Hills, S.D. McIntosh looks forward to a continued friendship.

McIntosh also extended her sincere appreciation to her employer.

“I am incredibly thankful to CHI Missouri Valley for your support allowing me to participate in this meaningful experience honoring our nation’s veterans,” she said.

This impactful journey underscores the importance of honoring veterans and providing opportunities for intergenerational connection and gratitude. CHI Missouri Valley is proud to support its employees in participating in experiences that foster community spirit and recognize the invaluable contributions of our service members.
