Both golf and bowling take a tremendous amount of focus, and if the individual looks ahead, he may miss his mark. But for Missouri Valley’s Evan White, he has kept his eye on the his mark the entire journey, and he’s even more excited about his next step.

White committed to extend his athletic career, signing on for both bowling and golf at St. Ambrose University (Davenport, Ia).

“It was an easy process, for the most part,” stated White. “The campus had a home-like feel, they have awesome coaches for both sports, as well as an outstanding educational program.”

White, a senior at Missouri Valley, participated on the St. Albert bowling program, and has earned numerous All-District and All-State honors from the Iowa Bowling Coaches Association.

He was taking looks at Wichita St University (Wichita, Kan.), Baker University (Baldwin City, Kan.), and St. Ambrose University (Davenport).

“I really liked the coaches and the campus, and they gave me an option compete in dual sports,” White added when talking about his final choice, St. Ambrose. “Wichita State has a competitive bowlng program as well as an engineering, but they didn’t seem as interested in me as other colleges were. Baker University had a gorgeous campus and an amazing engineering program, but had some boxes I didn’t feel got checked off.”

White enjoys both bowling and golf because of the amount of skill, mental focus, consistency and competiton it requires. He likes the ‘grind’ required to improve and always finding a way to be better than the last time he played or practiced.

“I bowled in a lot of individual tournaments, so I learned to watch from some of the best youth in the country such as Landon Jordan, Keegan Alexander, and Trae Henrichmeyer,” White continued. “I started at a young age, and just seemed to excel amongst my peers, which gave me confidence.”.

White concluded, “Coach Eric Littig is an amazing coach / recruiter, and I can’t thank him enough for having so much trust in myself to help join and better the St. Ambrose bowling and golf programs. I am very happy to be officially committed, and excited to start the next stage of my life and schooling. I really enjoyed my signing day, as I was able to relax and have a large number of family members, including my grandma from Arizona, witness my big moment.”

Evan is the son of Terrie and Sean White, and he plans on majoring in Mechanical Engineering in the fall.
