COLLEGE SIGNEE: Woodbine's Lapel runs toward Wartburg

Woodbine's Ellie Lapel (front, center) officially signed her letter of intent to continue both her cross country and track career at Wartburg College (Waverly, Ia) in the fall of 2025.

Lapel, who plan to major in excercise science, capped off her senior cross country season with an impressive 30th place finish in Class 1A, a noteable improvement from her 61st place finish from 2023. She boasts outstanding personal bests in 20:12 (5K), 11:02 (3000 m), and 5:13 (1500 m), highlighted by an 8th place finish in the 3000 m run at the 2024 State Track Meet. This spring, she has her sights set on breaking both school records in both distance events (3000 m, 1500 m), while contending for state medals in both.
