On Tuesday, Feb. 13, at 1:30 p.m., area author Hannah Steinmetz will speak at the Missouri Valley Public Library.

Hannah’s first book, “Ambition’s Hour,” was published in September of 2023 and is currently available on Amazon.

“Ambition’s Hour” is set in the 1890s, and in it the protagonist, Ruth Leland, accepts a one-room schoolhouse teaching position in the fictional town of Hopeswell, Iowa. She lodges at the Wallas Boardinghouse with an eccentric old woman, a family with five children, a man who sells personalized painted pots and a hired hand. One day a man shows up at the boarding house and Ruth uncovers from him a story very difficult to believe.

Ms. Steinmetz resides in Council Bluffs. She is a graduate of Heartland Christian School and is currently working on her degree in education. In her spare time, she participates on the College of St. Mary’s swim team.
