Dale E. Knauss, 75

Dale Ernest Knauss, 75, died on Friday, Sept. 5, 2025, at Azria Health Longview Nursing Home in Missouri Valley. He was born on Dec. 1, 1949, in Logan, to Ernest and Helen (Grosvenor) Knauss. He graduated from Logan Magnolia High School in 1968, and pursued further education at Iowa Western Community College, where he attended mechanic school for two years. Dale was united in marriage to Helen Snow on Nov. 16, 1974, in Elmo, Mo. and they were blessed with five children, Amanda, Alison, Josh, Amber and Alex.

Dale worked for U-Haul in Council Bluffs while also farming and raising pigs. His careers also included working for Delbert Bach, Bomgaar and a rewarding twenty-year tenure farming alongside Doug Rosengren. Dale was known for his strong work ethic and commitment to his responsibilities. Dale had a love for the great outdoors, especially hunting, which was one of his cherished hobbies. He was a storyteller at heart, finding joy in sharing tales and reciting poems. The warmth of family and extended family gatherings was particularly dear to him, and he loved family holiday celebrations.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Helen of Logan; children: Amanda Knauss of Council Bluffs, Alison and her husband Jason Alford of Joplin, Mo., Josh Knauss and his wife Paige of Tekamah, Neb., Amber and her husband Andrew Francis of Wahoo, Neb. and Alex Knauss of Louisville, Colo.; 11 grandchildren, Tyler, Kale, Stephen, Jala, Caleb, Nathan, Ollie, Liam, Nora, Abigail and Finley; sister, Hazel and her husband, Merrill Mohn of Woodbine; brother, Neil Knauss of Logan; and many other relatives and friends.

A funeral service was held on Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2025, at Logan Christian Church in Logan. Pastor Kyle Drown and Pastor Daniel Robbins presided over the service. The musician was Janet Drown. The congregational musical selections were “When We All Get to Heaven”, “I’ll Fly Away” and “Take Our Lives and Let Them Be”. The honorary pallbearers were Don Yost, Don Sexton and Ernie Wede. The pallbearers were Andy Yost, Clinton Gochenour, Justin Gochenour, Arlon Jensen, Chris Jensen, Todd Jensen, Zach Cox and Josh Pearon. Dale’s final resting place is at the Linwood Cemetery.
