Dennis Loren Osborn, age 93 of Missouri Valley, passed away Feb. 7. Dennis was born in Council Bluffs, to the late Edwin Munson Osborn and Helen (Smith) Osborn on Jan. 6, 1931. He grew up on a farm near Hazel Dell and moved to a farm outside of Missouri Valley his senior year. Dennis was a graduate of Missouri Valley High School in 1948. He loved the game of football and liked to tell his kids and grandkids how fast he was. Dennis served in the Army during the Korean War where he contracted malaria. Dennis married Donna Hale Feb. 9, 1957, at First Presbyterian Church in Missouri Valley. They had three children, Denise, David, and Danny. Farming was Dennis’s life and he loved everything that it involved. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church all of his married life. He was a board member of the Modale Coop Elevator for many years, H&P Drainage District, and The Annis Drainage Ditch. Dennis was a member and Honor Guard of the American Legion Post 337. He was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles 3876 and the VFW Post 11355. After he retired from farming at the age of 83, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Dennis is preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Joseph Osborn, and Gerald Osborn; his son, David Osborn, and son-in-law Terry Kendrick.
Dennis is survived by his wife of 67 years; his children, Denise Kendrick, Daniel Osborn; grandchildren, Weston (Vicki) Osborn, Aimee (Marcus) Schultz, Autumn (Josh) Bang, Aaron (Korie) Kersigo, Carlee (Troy) Watson, and Joseph Osborn; and two special little great-grandchildren, Raelynne and Harrison Schultz; as well as many, many friends. Funeral services were held on Feb. 10, 2024.
