The foundation for the Logan-Magnolia Community School District has been built, and with the numerous ‘wide, starry-eyed’ gazes from first time onlookers, the overall reaction of the entire week proved to be a success.

“It was a gratifying week in so many ways,” stated Logan-Magnolia Superintendent, Jacob Hedger. “I can’t begin to thank all the numerous supporters, our school board and staff, and the countless number of contributors that made all of this possible. It was a rewarding experience for everyone, and our future begins now.”

On Tuesday, Sept. 30, was the grand opening, first varsity volleyball match played in the new facility. Hedger observed the ‘electric’ crowd that provided a new-found energy allowing the Panthers to pull out a thrilling five-set victory.

The ribbon cutting and community tours on Saturday, Oct. 4, allowed people from the community to see the Dome, Hall of Champions, and new classrooms. Sharing our success with the community is essential, as they are a major part of all the good things happening right now.

Saturday evening was the Alumni Banquet and second annual Hall of Fame induction ceremony.

Hedger concluded, “It was a night to celebrate some iconic figures of our past. Being a part of the history of our school is truly a blessing. So many people have contributed to helping make Lo-Ma a premier school. It is fitting to celebrate them.”

Logan-Magnolia School Board President, Brian Koenig added, “The opening of the new dome and elementary classrooms (opened at the start of the school year), represent exciting steps forward in our vision of becoming the region’s premier school. These new spaces will provide an environment for students and staff to become the best versions of themselves, and we’re already seeing the positive impact. But our work isn’t done. This summer, we’ll be upgrading our science classrooms and labs using the remaining bond funds, continuing our commitment to providing an exceptional learning environment for every child in our community.  We also are excited to offer the public the opportunity to use the walking track and weight room in connection with a generous grant from the Wood Foundation.”

Koenig concluded, “This was a week many won’t soon forget at Lo-Ma and was a long time coming.  After ten years and thousands of volunteer hours from so many, the dome dream became a reality, and Lo-Ma’s volleyball team rewarded those in attendance at the dome opener with a five-set thrilling win, as Lo-Ma defeated the Tri-Center in front of a packed house.  The school and community came togther again during Friday’s homecoming pep rally and coronation.  It was a satisfying feeling seeing all the hard work come together for an unforgettable opening week. This addition will not only benefit today’s students, but all those who follow – We’re excited for the future.”

School Board member, Brianne Niedermyer added, “This week and past several years just proves the amount of support our district shows for one another. You saw the crowds at opening night (Sept. 30), Homecoming pep rally and coronation, the football game. We now have the facility that will benefit today and future generations.”

Plans are still being discussed for where the Veterans Day Program (Nov.) and Grandparents Day (April) will be held.
