Holly Nielsen receives Farm Bureau Ag Teacher of the Year

The Harrison County Farm Bureau was honored to recognize Holly Nielsen, Kindergarten Teacher at West Harrison School, as the inaugural recipient of the Harrison County Farm Bureau, Ag in the Classroom, Teacher of the Year honor, during our Membership Appreciation Dinner at the Harrison County Fair on July 23.

This year, Harrison County Farm Bureau proudly introduced this new award to recognize excellence in education and agricultural literacy. Our youth are our most valuable commodity, and we are committed to supporting local educators who help students understand the importance of agriculture and the opportunities it provides.

As a proud sponsor of the Loess Hills Ag in the Classroom Program, Harrison County Farm Bureau continues to support teachers who bring agriculture into their classrooms. Agriculture is Iowa’s largest industry, and our schools play an important role in preparing students for the future of this ever-changing field.

The Ag in the Classroom Teacher of the Year Award honors educators who go above and beyond to inspire students, create meaningful agricultural learning experiences, and help young people understand the important role agriculture plays in their lives and communities.

Mrs. Nielsen works closely with Loess Hills Ag in the Classroom to help her students explore where their food comes from and understand how agriculture impacts their everyday lives. Through hands-on activities, classroom discussions, and engaging lessons, she encourages curiosity and builds a strong foundation of agricultural literacy.

Beyond the classroom, Holly extends learning by sharing classroom experiences and activities with families, creating valuable connections between school, home, and the community. Her enthusiasm and dedication help students develop a greater appreciation for agriculture, stewardship, and the people who make our food system possible.

The Harrison County Farm Bureau is proud to recognize Mrs. Holly Nielsen for her commitment to education, agriculture, and the next generation of Iowa leaders. Her work reflects the values of Farm Bureau by building People, Progress and Pride in Iowa through our youth.
