Big Reds drop final non-district contest
It was a mixture of good, bad, and everything in between, but the result was the same. Missouri Valley showed signs of life on both sides of the ball, but once again, untimely miscues haunted the Big Reds throughout the entire contest. Lawton-Bronson capitalized to post a 42-0 win over Missouri Valley at the Big Reds Stadium on Sept. 12 at Missouri Valley.
“We’re still looking for that full game effort,” stated Head Coach Dontae Allen. “We play well in phases, sometimes it’s the offense, sometimes it’s the defense, but we haven’t been able to get it all together at the same time. We’ll regroup as we prep for this week.”
Jack Handlos (5.5 tackles), Carter Tiffey (5.5 tackles), and James Wendt (4.0 tackles) led the Big Reds defense. Owen Becerra and Julyan Tyson both added interceptions.
Offensively, Dylan Davis led the Big Reds with 149 yards passing. Owen Becerra added eight receptions for 89 yards.
“We’re entering the second phase of the season, with district play starting this week,” Allen concluded. “All of our goals are still in front of us. This team will continue to fight and battle to the end.”
Up Next (Sept. 19): Missouri Valley (0-3) will be on the road for the Class 1A, District 8 opener when they travel to Red Oak.
