Chargers get past Panthers
Logan-Magnolia could not overcome a slow start in a 33-7 loss to Adair-Casey/Guthrie Center in the Class A State Football Playoffs on Oct. 24 at Guthrie Center.
“Their team speed took us a while to adjust to,” stated Head Coach Matt Straight. “We forced them into some passing situations, but, unfortunately, they connected on a couple balls up-for-grabs.”
Ashton Pezulik finished with 152 yards passing, with Brodie Davis (74 yards receiving) and Carson Edney (52 yards receiving) being his top targets. Carson Edney added a rushing touchdown in the fourth quarter for the Panthers lone touchdown.
Tyson Jenkins led the defense with 8.5 tackles, with Wade Hawkins (6.5 tackles, 1 fumble recovery, 1 interception) having strong defensive efforts for the Panther.
Lo-Ma’s seniors’, including Adam Roden, Luke Walski, Jason Kastner, Eli Esser, Carson Edney, Cale Wallis, Grady Brix, and Aaron Cordell finished with 24 career wins and four straight playoff appearances.
Straight concluded, “I am very proud of our seniors. They are true team players. They kept playing in tough situations and none of them have an ego. It's refreshing to coach kids who aren't selfish and commit to the team motto.”
Logan-Magnolia finished the season at 5-4.
