Defense leads Panthers past Big Reds

Logan-Magnolia scored on four of five first half possessions, and rolled to a 31-0 win over Missouri Valley in non-district play in their home opener on Sept. 5 in Logan.

“We did what we needed to in order to get the win,” stated Head Coach Matt Straight. “We had another injury that caused us to change things up, especially on offense. But we adjusted well.”

The Panthers defense took center stage, with Jason Kastner (3 interceptions), Keenan Kuhlman (2 interceptions), and Crosby Yoder (2 fumble recoveries) causing havoc by stopping the Missouri Valley offense. Max Wingert (6 tackles) and Wade Hawkins (4 tackles) led the Panthers.

“We’re still battling the injury bug in the early part of the season, and we’re doing our best to regroup,” Straight concluded.   “Our defense has been solid the first two games, and we’ll need another great effort this week.”

Up Next (Sept. 12): Logan-Magnolia (2-0) will be at Council Bluffs St. Albert to start Class A, District 8 play at Al Leber Field in Council Bluffs.
