There were few tricks, a scary defense, and the Tigers were treated to another huge playoff victory.
Woodbine’s dominant defense shut down the high-flying Southeast Warren squad, as the Tigers rolled to an impressive 68-0 win over the Warharks in the second round of the 8-Man State Playoffs on Oct. 31 in Woodbine.
“All three phases of our game were in playoff form,” stated Tigers Coach Dustin Crook. “Our defense was lights out, offensively we clicked, and even our special teams were playing with high energy. It was a fun night.”
Defensively, Brenner Sullivan (7.0 tackles), Brenden Wagner (6.5 tackles), and Blaine Leaders (6.0 tackles) led a stingy effort. Lucas Olson and Brock Crook both had fumble recoveries, with Skyler Stolley adding an interception.
Woodbine’s offense, scoring on all eight first half possessions, were led by Brody Pryor (150 yard passing, 4 TDs; 128 yards rushing, 2 TDs). Cal Pryor (1), Brennner Sullivan (1), Landon Blum (2 TD) and Blaine Leaders (1 TD) all had receiving touchdowns for the Tigers.
“Our defense has led the way the entire season, and if we keep playing like this, we’ll be a tough out,” Crook concluded. “We have a couple more hurdles to clear, but the season-long goal is within reach.”
Up Next (Nov. 6): Woodbine (9-0) will host Fremont-Mills (8-2) in the 8-Man State Quarterfinals on Thursday. The winner advances to the 8-Man State Semifinals, to be played on Wednesday, Nov. 12, at the UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls.
