Spartans blank Panthers
Logan-Magnolia struggled moving the ball in a 14-0 loss to West Monona in Class A, District 8 play at Lewis Central in Council Bluffs. The Homecoming game was moved due to the extreme wet conditions of the Bob Evans Athletic Complex.
“We knew it would be a battle going in, and it came down to 5-6 plays,” stated Head Coach Jack West. “They made some plays late in the fourth quarter, and that was the difference.”
Defensively, Max Wingert (7.0 tackles), Rowdy Andersen (6.5 tackles), Keenan Kuhlman (6.5 tackles), Hunter Prier (6.0 tackles) and Crosby Yoder (2 fumble recoveries) led the exhausted Panthers’ defense. WM scored two touchdowns in the final 10 minutes of the game.
Ashton Peszulik (34 yards passing / 20 yards rushing) and Zach Diggins (6 receptions, 72 yards) led Lo-Ma’s offense.
“We told the kids there was nothing to hang their heads about in terms of their effort,” stated West. “We’ll go back to work this week, improve upon the fundamentals, and prepare for the next challenge.”
Up Next (Oct. 2 / Oct. 9): Logan-Magnolia (1-2, 3-2) will travel to IKM-Manning on Oct. 2; and host Woodbury Central for Senior Night on Oct. 9.
